Michael is a very clever man who is passionate about discovery and research and is never tired of learning more. His wide knowledge makes him be very cultured and confident of himself, maybe a bit too much; though he’s also cautious and is always very careful not to commit any mistake. He loves to show off his intelligence whenever he’s given the occasion to, to the point of being annoying when he brags about it. Being a man of culture, he usually proves of being polite and composed in his manners toward others, earning their trust rather easily. He’s resolute, rigorous and ambitious and won’t give up on his ideas easily: once he has his own theories on something, nothing will make him change his mind, not even when proved he’s wrong. When things don’t go as planned, Michael starts getting overly nervous and will show a less composed side of himself. He’s persistent and works hard to reach his goals.

Backstory: Nicholas, mostly known as Michael, is a brilliant alchemist who was born in Creta when the study and use of alchemy started spreading worldwide. He got interested in this art since he was very young and decided to study it with the goal of becoming World’s biggest alchemist. When he was a young adult, he fell for a woman named Perenelle and married her; Perenelle believed in him and supported him in his studies of alchemy, helping him achieving his goal and being confident he would have made the biggest discovers and that glory would have been his. Michael spent whole his life studying without achieving the results he was aiming for: while he fully devoted himself to his studies, his wife died of old age and the loss made him realize how empty and meaningless his existence had been. Filled with sense of guilt and feeling empty inside, Michael didn’t want to give up and let death come for him too: he thought it was not too late to start over again and made a transmutation to bind his soul into the body of a young man, died the day before. He succeeded in this transmutation and kept studying different alchemies in the following years, traveling a lot in his brand new and young body. However he noticed this body was meant to age in time and he kept binding his soul to different bodies every time he was getting close to death, so he was able to live longer and keep on studying to achieve his goal. It was stressing for him to every time put his soul into a different body which couldn’t host him forever, so he decided to find a way to obtain an immortal body. While traveling in Amestris he discovered the virtues and powers of the philosopher stone and decided to start creating his own ones: he kept traveling from town to town in different counties, offering villagers free medical treatments to gain their trust and then manipulate them to use them as ingredients to create the stones. Once a stone was completed, Michael would disappear and head to the next village; in time he managed to create a few stones and decided to take a further step in his own research for an immortal body by starting creating homunculi. He artificially created soulless human bodies putting a philosopher stone as core and then bound the soul of a living human being into each of them, ending up creating Rage first and Sorrow later. He wanted to study his own creations at best to understand what he needed to improve to get the immortal body he was aiming for, so he gave them false identities and told others they were his nephews to avoid people getting suspicious. One day, when he was in a village in his homeland, he ran across a kid called Jason, who was being reproached by a villager for snooping into his house and stealing his defunct son’s books of alchemy. Michael rescued the kid and discovered he was an orphan who was aiming to study alchemy and become a powerful alchemist. Astonished by the kid’s strong willpower, he decided to host him at his home to share his knowledges with him and train him, making Jason become his assistant and helper in his own researches. In time the two kept studying and experimenting, working on the creation of the third artificial body which was meant to be immortal and host Michael’s soul forever. The true reason behind Michael’s hospitality to Jason was him wanting to take possession of his body in case his researches for immortality took longer; once Jason understood Michael’s real intentions, he decided to rebel against him and with the knowledges he got he managed to bind his soul to the body they both were developing, to then run away. Michael was outraged by his behavior and decided to go hunt him around the world to take what he believed belonged to him.

Dislikes: feeling useless, when things don’t go as he planned, pineapples.

Affiliations:
- Rage and Sorrow: they are Michael’s first creations. He considers them “imperfect” because of them not being immortal, that’s why he kept them with him to study them and understand what needed to be improved. He cares for them, but only because they are useful for him to do researches and experiments.
- Jason/Revenge: he was his assistant and helper until he ran away with the result of their researches and experiments. Michael has never really cared about him as a person, he decided to help him for the only reason he thought two minds working on the same projects were better than one alone, and also because his young body could have been a perfect container for him if he was in need.

Curiosities:
- His pseudonym “Michael Olflans” is the anagram of his real name Nicholas Flamel.
- He changed appearance during the years, every time picking a different body of a recently deceased man, however he always chose rather good looking bodies because he cares to look good.
